Yesterday I listened to an very old cassettetape (converted to mp3), which was the first tape I made with CD-tracks from CD-ROMs (mostly games). I used tracks from an unknown Pinball game, a Kaleidoscope program and Micro Machines 2 Turbo Tournament.
When the tape was ready, I didnt listen very often, cause a lot of tracks were clipping or should I say the recordings were too loud. However I liked the idea of creating tapes with the best CD-tracks of a lot of games I played, that I started recording the Pinball and Race Track tapes.
Back to that first tape, it was called "CD-Rom Noises 1", which was also the last one.
And the best tracks of that tape were the ones from Micro Machines 2 Turbo Tournament.
I used one track to start the tape and recorded all 5 of them. Why ?
It were the best instrumental rocksongs I ever heard with a great solo-guitarist.
He plays all the classic rock-tricks in his solo's, but when you hear those tracks
you want to play this game or any other racegame.
Sometimes the tracks seems to repeat itself too often, but most races last longer than
3 minutes, right ?
Check them our here
If you want to see the gameplay (with more good rock music in the menu's), go here
I always remember the game, cause the controls were very difficult to handle.

Dutch Boogie Woogie pianists versus Fireworks
Recently I was watching how my son played games where the music determines the difficulty of the gameplay. I am talking about "Riff Racer" and "Beat Hazard"

And I wonder how difficult the gameplay will be if you don't use the regular hard rock, metal, techno, dubstep, hardstyle, etc etc
but music from games that use a different kind of music.

For example, I played a PC Pinball Game with Boogie Woogie music.
What if you play "Riff Racer"
or "Beat Hazard" with a Boogie Woogie song?
Then I remembered my sister had once a 7" single of a Dutch Boogie Woogie pianist with a famous children song
"De uil zat in de olmen" and I search on YT for names and songs. As it turned out, there are two famous Dutch Boogie Woogie pianists, Rob Hoeke and Jaap Dekker.
I could not find "De uil", I am pretty sure it was Jaap Dekker who played it.
Never mind, I found other Boogie Woogie songs on YT and made a short playlist of these.
Note: For Boogie Woogie music you need a piano, bass, and drums. It's a kind of rock n roll, rockabilly, blues all into one piano. If you want to learn, try this.
PS:
On Fireworks 2 and 3 musicdiscs of the MSX club MCD, I found 2 short Boogie Woogie shortof songs. Check out Pub Boogie 3 and 2 Thanks to FRANK MSX DEMOS FOR YOU AND ME for uploading this.
Best wishes for 2018 to you all !!!

TnC versus MMM Free

Both programs where user-friendly, though I never liked Video Jam. There were some different music-genres to choose from, only 1 or 2 had nice samples to play with. The Video Jam was more fun with short clips of people doing something off beat. While I tried a couple of times to create some tracks, I never saved those attempts. So it wasnt worth to preserve it for the future.
I used Magix MP3 Maker for converting wav-files of ripped music-CDs, at that time there were no free mp3-convertors. It had a good graphical interface, I just wanted a fast convertor. However it had 1 very nice feature, it could speedup and convert at the same time, without changing the pitch.
Enough history.
I stumbled into Magix Music Maker again via an add somewhere and this time there was a Free Version ! I installed it asap and started dragging and dropping from the soundpool.
At first I had only tracks from 30 seconds, later I noticed how to create longer ones. In one afternoon I created 8 different songs and a couple of early tries, still too good to delete. A very nice feature of the new Free Version of Magix Music Maker is the loopfunction, which is on by default. That means you can easlily created looped songs for mainmenu's in games.
In fact all songs I created can be looped and with my trusted Audacity I did, cause I was convinced that 30 seconds is very short for Soundcloud.
Of course the Free Version has lot of features disabled (cant create video's) but it had a lot of good sounding samples in the standard Music Pool. You have to buy more Music Pool packages if you want to create other music styles. I didnt, I'm still happy with the default samples I got with the Free Version.

And here you find my attempts for creating music with this Free program.
But beware...you cannot use the songs commercial, if you use these loops of Magix.
For more info this page.
Lucky for me, I am such a bad composer
I will never create any money from these tracks I made...
Here you see a track I have been working on lately.

William Tell Overture & Iron Maiden (MSX part)
I had listening to a lot of 2 CELLOS covers already, when I heard their The Trooper Overture and I realised I had some related MSX stuff about William Tell Overture
and Iron Maiden...
In my early years behind a PC I found an GW-Basic book with some Basic programs in it.
At that time PCs had one 1 channel PSG sound, so it was easy to convert to MSX-Basic.
Here is my version of the final of William Tell Overture, the title is still a bit Dutchy...
Gavitex / Mediafire
I converted some text-oriented games too, but I found all of them very boring and wont put just 1 of them on my 112 MSX-Basic games disk.
To my suprise I found not 1 but 2 Iron Maiden demo's in my collection.
First one was from USE CRACKINGS, bundled with TSF Pleasure Demo I en II. For your pleasure I removed the last 2 demos, cause it was kinda hardcore and good examples how you should not digitize with your NMS8280 computer. It's just a couple of digi's and a nice use of Wordstore+ (digitized speech) in the beginning.
Gavitex / Mediafire
Second one was from Unicorn Corporation called Wasted Years, again digi's but smaller ones so more digi's to show and you can listen to 1 nice original MSX-Music/FM-Pac song.
Well, in the intro you hear another, the intro of "The number of the beast", well known by hard rock fans.

William Tell Overture & Iron Maiden (YouTube part)
A couple of months ago I was searching for a better remix of Thunderstruck of AC/DC,
one of the few favs of the band and found The Dueling Fiddlers .
It's nice to hear an instrumental version of Thunderstruck, but both fiddlers didnt impress me a bit. There was no energy no power, just technical correct.
Then I clicked on the 2 CELLOS version and I was completly speechless, of course the joke of shoking a classical public with rock is very old, but the way the 2 CELLOS perform is just out of this world. So much power, so much energy and some jokes to make it perfect.
So does the William Tell Overture and Iron Maiden in common ?
I thought nothing until but 2 CELLOS created a crossover YOU MUST HEAR
They called it The Trooper Overture, a perfect crossover between classical music
and classic hard rock.
Once you hear both, you may wonder, can they play ballads too ?
Yes, listen to their U2 or The Police versions.
And they made plenty of great 2 CELLOS covers of many classic (rock)hits.
Or instrumentals, if you dont wanna miss a song this playlist is a good start.
What are you waiting for ? Go check them out !
If you wanna hear more Iron Maiden and other hard rock favs of mine, check out these 2 tapes (and 2 sides) at mixcloud.

DnBuser & TnC: Strong & Delayed
Together with DnBuser, someone I recently met at the DJ collective called "DJ Station",
I created a serie of Drum 'n Bass soundscapes under the name "Strong & Delayed".

We created these tracks live, afterwards I cut off the failed attempts (yes, I scr** up a lot) and added fade outs
at the end.
If you still reading, here is the link to the playlist at Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/audiotex-1/sets/strong-delayed
DnBuser likes to play DnB like Liquid Funk style of the mixes of DrumsoldieR, just the kind of style I like in DnB.
Less aggressive, more mellow.
But after this serie our paths go different ways, I have a lot
of other projects I want to do and so is he.
Maybe I will coop with another DJ from the "DJ station" collective, at this time I won't mention any name. Peace !
