Sint 2017: Satanklaas trailer for Sint/Saint horror-movie

Of course I am too late. Damn this shit. Sinterklaas evening was on the 5th of December. For those who don't know Sinterklaas, there is also wiki to help you out. But I don't want to post about Sinterklaas parties, but about a very bad Dutch horror-movie Sint, which does the complete the opposit, a Sint slaughter party.

Is it a good movie?
You have seen all the scary parts too many time in other movies

and the script is not really good.

So why I liked it?
I like the idea of a zombie Sint, the setting where the film takes place, yes Amsterdam again, and the Dutch humor in the dialogs and the whole movie.

When you have seen the trailer, you have seen almost half the movie, and here comes the reason I want to post this. The music in the film and in the trailer are so easy to forgot, another thumbsdown. However some inspired YouTuber took the (Dutch) trailer of Sint (Saint for the rest of the world), replace the violins and the singing child with a metal parodie on the first modern Sinterklaas song, originally from Henk & Henk, now performed by Henk samen met Goddess of Desire.

It's called: "Satansklaas, je kent hem wel". I just wanna say, better one bad Sinterklaas metal song, than 10 children’s choirs singing Sinterklaas stuff.

I had an idea to subtitle this clip with English lyrics, but then I had to re-upload it.
Too much work. So here are the lyrics in Dutch and English (sort of - powered by Bing -).

SATANKLAAS, JE KENT HEM WEL (DUTCH) SATANKLAAS, YOU KNOW HIM (ENGLISH)

Godverdekut! Damnthisshit!

Toen me werd verteld When I was told that
dat Sinterklaas niet echt bestaat, Sinterklaas doesn't really exist,
knapte er iets in mijn kop. something was snapped in my head.
Zo wat was ik kwaad. So what was I evil.
Ik raakte aan de zware shag I hit the heavy shag
en werd een satanist. and became a Satanist.
Laat mij maar naar de hel gaan. Let me go to hell.
Hier is niemand die me mist. Here is no one who misses me.

Wanneer ik naar de hel toe ga When I go to hell
wat vast niet lang meer duurt, which doesn't last long,
weet ik dat ik een plekje krijg I know I'll get a spot
bij Satan in de buurt. near Satan.
Dan zeg ik rooie rakker, Then I say grubbing R,
moet je horen, ouwe pik. you must hear, Ole Dick.
Heb jij voor mij wat water Do you have some water for me
want je huis staat in de fik. because your house is in the flame.

Refr. (2x) Refr. (2x)
Satanklaas, je kent hem wel. Satan Klaas, you know him.
Satanklaas, Satanklaas, Satan Klaas, Satan Klaas,

Wanneer ik slechte dingen doe When I do bad things
dan hoop ik op bezoek. then I hope to visit.
Mijn koffers staan al ingepakt My suitcases are already wrapped
in één of andre hoek. in one or Andre Hoek.
Satan, alsjeblieft heb je Satan, please
een vuurtje voor me, vriend. have a fire for me, friend.
Wanneer kom je me halen When you come to pick me up
want de hel heb ik verdiend. because the hell I deserved.

Happy Halloween: Creepy music from the Virtual Audio Project

I always try to create an MSX part and a Music part (mostly from YouTube) for very special days. During the year is that Valentine's Day (no clue with to post), Halloween (you reading it right now), Xmas (of course) and New Year's Day ( best wishes blabla...)

I had not much inspiration about what to do with Halloween and Music, when I remember I had 2 audio-CDs full of scary music of the Virtual Audio Project. I was a huge fan of V.A.P. and collected more than 30 of them (still I'm missing 11 pieces). I will create another post about the Virtual Audio Project later on.

First I searched for the original audio-CDs, I had them stored in a special blue CD-map.
Then I searched for the right titles, it was "Adrenaline Issue 9" and "Nightmares Issue 26"
And I started thinking, will I create a short video of the best track of these CDs or not.

Then I found at allmusic.com a lot of Virtual Audio Project, especially both scary ones.
You could listen to them for maybe 30 seconds, but it's a start to hear what you like...
Then I started searching for big YT and somebody had there put his entire collection of V.A.P., not a big as mine own collection, still impressive.

I listened to both YT videos and the differences between "Adrenaline" and "Nightmares"
are in the length of the tracks, on "Nightmares" they are much longer, not creepier.
In the end, I was happy when I finished listening, every horror film doesn't have a scary music for more than 1 hour constantly.

My favorites are the first track of "Adrenaline" and the last track of "Nightmares".
Better listen for yourself.

And recently there has been a breakup in the team behind mix.dj, some started a completely new website with the old name mix.dj and others gave the old website a new look a new name: https://www.edeejay.com/

So if you want Halloween music in different music-styles better visit both and search for Halloween 2017, I'm sure it will be already Halloween 2018 before you have listened to them all.
And big YT has plenty Halloween music 2017 in store for you.

Happy Halloween: The First Jumpscare On MSX Ever (maybe)

Hi Everyone,

I'm very pleased to announce "The First Jumpscare On MSX Ever" (maybe).
It's hidden in a home-made game-demo I made, called "The Return of Mr. Hyde".

The game-demo is (I believe) actually the first hidden object game on MSX, like so many other PC-games on Facebook or CD-Roms.
It's a very short game, cause the jumpscare will interrupt your game. And as the text screen says, you can find no more than 4 objects.

Finally, I finished the game-demo and the jumpscare, I start working in October 2015 already.
Then I couldn't finish it in time for Halloween, so I created other posts about Halloween and forgot all about it, until recently.

I had no idea what to post for Halloween this year and wanted to start with the TnC's WORDSTORE+ MegaDemo. So I searched in my MSX .DSK collection and found a map called "MSX Halloween". There I found the forgotten stuff I made for the hidden object game-demo and the jumpscare.

Why I put a jumpscare in the game-demo? Well, it was hard to create a working game
and when I started in 2015, I soon came to the conclusion I better put a jumpscare in it.
That way I didn't have to finish the whole game. Yeah, I am a lazy MSX-Basic programmer.

Maybe if I get some good responses I will take a look if I can expand the game-demo to a complete game with more sceneries, more objects, ending/hi-score screen, more music etc.

Here are some random quotes I wrote down,
during the last testing sessions:

- The pictures are stolen from a HdO adventure, called "Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde"
  It was a simple hidden objects game on CD-ROM for PC, I bought it for 2 Euro.

- When I saw "Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde" I wondered if I could re-make it on MSX-2.
  That how I got the idea of an MSX prequel "The Return of Mr. Hyde"

- The resolution of SCREEN 8 was not good enough to get good converted pictures of the "Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde" game to see all hidden objects.
  So I had to improvise and find other (bigger) objects to search for.

- I choose SCREEN 8, cause although SCREEN 7 pictures have a better resolution,
  they are also more kB than SCREEN 8 pictures. If I made the complete game with
  SCREEN 7 pictures, it still is a short game with not more than 9 sceneries.

- I wanted an original scary sample, so I search in my home-made samples and found
  one I used in a DUAL SONG for the MusixBox program (Philips Music Module).
  The voice you hear is not my own, it was a friend of mine long time ago,
  Robert van Leeuwen (I hope he won't notice it ever...)

- Cause I wanted also music in the game-demo and the scary sample,
  I choose the MoonBlaster program to create music and play the scare sample.

- The intro-/game-music you hear is made by myself, quick and dirty.
  It sounds a lot like my random PSG-sound generators, but with FM-voices.

- The game-demo should work on every MSX-2 with MSX-MUSIC + MSX-AUDIO.
  I have no idea if it works on an MSX-2+ without Philips Music Module or other different
  MSX hardware. Now I only test for MSX-1 and quit.

- The whole hidden objects game-demo differs from any PC-version, cause I choose
   in 2015 not to add fire-button detection, so you just have to move around to find
   the hidden objects.

- The "ugly" intro-screen was made with Philips VideoGraphics. I don't like it much,
   but I ran out of time and ideas to make an better conversion of a picture and better
   title design.

- If you want to beat my HI-SCORE, you have to press "H" in the intro picture.
  Then you won't be disturbed by the scary part of the game-demo.

- The scary face picture came from the original jumpscare in the tv-program
   "American's Funniest Home Videos" and I think it was inspired by the famous painting
   "The Scream" by Edvard Munch.

Here is a short YouTube video about the game-demo
"The Return of Mr. Hyde"

Wanna try it yourself?
Mediafire / Pcloud

PS: Do not try to download anything from the "freeride games", it's not safe.
---
After complains from SupMSX I tried to run the game-demo on a real MSX-2.
I fired up my NMS 8245 with a Philips Music Module and all screens were very messy.
The main problem was removing old sprite data before creating a new one.
So I removed all the VDP(9) commands, the POKE command for loading the Moonblaster driver y/n and add a command for removing sprite data I found in a very old school notebook full of MSX tips I collected.
I uploaded this new version 1.27 to Mediafire and Pcloud and remove the old 1.26 version.

Happy Halloween : MSX Horror Games update

Just after completing the post with the Harror games list, I found a couple more MSX games that absolutly should be on the list as well.
I'm talking about (in random order):

* Dead of the Brain
* Predator
* Tetra Horror
* Shiro To Kuro Densetsu
* Laplace No Ma
* Blinky Scary School

Yeah, there were more scary MSX games then I ever imagined. If you leave a comment I will prepare an update batch of MSX Horror Games.

Until then...have fun google these titles, some of theme have complete webpages from hardcore fans.

Happy Halloween : MSX Horror Games list

It all started when I googled "MSX Horror" and got on a page of the forum of MSX.org, where somebody asked the community for MSX Horror themed games.

Between lot of unnecessary comments, there were some titles of MSX games listed.
I decided to create an alfabetic list and after that I decided collect these
(with some additional titles by myself).

That was not so easy, some titles were only known with their Japanse titles and some websites with MSX files are vanished. So I had to look for others instead.

Most of the games on the list came from a nice website completly dedicated to MSX Games, called http://www.msxgamesworld.com others came from
an unexpected good French emulator site called: http://www.planetemu.net/
When the search was over I had 4 different MSX file-formats with 3 different compress-methodes. I got .PMA .LZH .ZIP files and when decompressed I got .ROM .DSK .CAS and .BIN, not very handy.
I search again now for the 3 best known formats for MSX emulators, .CAS, .ROM and .DSK.

So hereby I presents: The MSX Halloween Games Collection 2016

* Alien 2 ROM
* Aliens CAS/DSK
* Alien Syndrome CAS
* Chiller CAS
* Chima Chima CAS/DSK
* Demonia ROM
* Dracula CAS
* Ghost Busters CAS/DSK
* Ghost Busters 2 CAS/DSK
* Ghost House ROM
* Gremlins 2 CAS/DSK
* Haunted House ROM/DSK
* Haunted Mansion DSK
* Invasion of the Zombie Monsters ROM
* Kikikaikai ROM
* Little Vampire DSK/DSK/DSK
* Mad Mix CAS/DSK
* Mad Mix II CAS
* Mon Mon Monster ROM/ROM
* Mr. Ghost DSK/ROM
* Mr. Ghost 2 ROM
* Socery CAS/DSK* Spirits DSK
* Sanatorium of Romance DSK
* Tengoku Yoitoko ROM
* The Munsters CAS
* Undeadline DSK
* Vampiro CAS
* Vampire Empire DSK
* Vampire Killer ROM/ROM
* War of the Dead 1 DSK
* War of the Dead 2 DSK/DSK
* Youma Kourin DSK
* Zombie Near ROM
* Zombie Incident ROM
* Zombie Hunter ROM/ROM

I put these in 1 big zip-file at Mediafire and Pcloud (if this is still illegal then I am sorry and will remove the links).
I didnt test these games, cause I use blueMSX emulator only and I dont know which one other people are using. If it dont work, you always can google for an other version and let me know where you find it.

Happy Halloween on your MSX computer !!!

NB: I know Shit is a Pacman game, but this cover fits very good for Halloween.

112 MSX Basic Games presents : HORROR.GAM (84)

While I was looking for more Basic games that were good enough for the 112 list, I realised it was almost Halloween and everybody does something Halloween related.

So on my list to be included in the 112, I found this game, MOUNTAIN of HORROR, a listing from the Dutch MCM Magazine and S. Gommans won a price with it.
Perfect for Halloween.

It pretend to be more than 1 game, with a nice long intro, but that was not true.
Game 2 etc were never made, which is kinda sad, cause game 1 is very difficult to succeed and if you fail, don't blame the programmer,  the game itself runs fast enough.

The game itself is very simple, run from left to right, without being hit by aggresive bats. I have to admit I wasnt able to get to the other side once. Can you do better ?

I forgot to mention I added more controls and the intro so it was a lot shorter and more interactive for the gamer. Strangely the short description was in Dutch, but all other texts were already in English, so not much to translate.

Get it on Media Fire or Pcloud as long as its available...

Happy Halloween: Bit2 Slasher demo (MSX)

When I uploaded the "valis - the fantasm soldier 2 - scary part" I remembered I had somewhere a Japanese demo which had also some kind of horror in it. I first though it was from T&E Soft, but after searching more than 20 disks, I had to admited it was Bit2.

Yes, the guys that made nice programs like Quinple, Nyancle Racing and Graphsaurus.
Then I watched this demo, very dark and no happy ending. Was that the same Bit2 ?

Because of all the Japanese titles I dont know what the demo is all about and more important I could find out what the title of the game was.

Yes, I only have the intro-demo, not the game itself. Kinda sad, it could be a very good game if it had the graphics of the demo.

Why I called it the Bit2 Slasher demo...watch this

Of course this was not the entire demo and I saved only the best part, cutt off the disk loading times otherwise the YouTube movie should be to boring too watch.
I saved the Japanese texts, music and soundeffects cause that's part of the story the demo tries to tell.

Happy Halloween !

Happy Halloween: Fantasm Soldier II intro (MSX)

I have said it before, the most scariest part of
any MSX game was the 2nd part of the intro demo of Valis - Fantasm Soldier II for MSX-2.
So special for Halloween I uploaded only that part
to YouTube.

Enjoy !

The link is here

Happy Halloween: Thriller

Another candidate for some scary MSX stuff, suprising rare.

This is not a real musicdemo, but it have some MSX-1 animation and the music is of course "Thriller"of MJ.

The music is very good arranged, keep in mind if you used FM-drums you had only 6 FM channels left.

Hope you like it, I think it's one of the best covers in FM Basic I ever heard.
Marco Dufour did a good job.

To download: Gavitex or Mediafire

If you want to see the videoclip of MJ again, watch this.
Yeah it's the longer version, but that's a bonus, right ?

I was planning to create a top 5 of horror games on MSX,
but sadly I knew not enough games that can be qualified as horror, like the Resident Evil series and so much more on PC.

Happy Halloween : Nightmare on Elm Street 4 demo (MSX)

Halloween is really an unknown event in the MSX World, I tried to find the most scary, spooky, creepy or haunted musicdemo's and ended up with no more than 3 possible candidates.
This is one of them. The Unicorn Corporation with their "Nightmare on Elm Street 4 demo" with some MSX-Music and some animated screen 8 digi's.

The "Nightmare on Elm Street" movies were very populair, because of the story behind it ("don't fall asleep"), the bad guy and his remarks. But the last movie "Freddy vs. Jason"
was the worst of them all, I watch it only to know if I bet on the right monster to survive...
By the way, Freddy is on the left...

Here is the demo (together with more Unicorn stuff): Gavitex and Mediafire

My Music Memories : Nightmare ( Happy Halloween )

If you have a Halloween house-party than this track is a most.
Show the videoclip on a widescreen and you have a great time.
The combi of the creepy bells and the sinister violins is really spooky.

Other Brainbug releases are more of the same
Lots of violins, but not another "Nightmare".

When I first hear this track on a Trancemaster compilation, I knew this was the best track mixing house with horror.

My Music Memories : Fall of the House Of Usher ( Happy Halloween )

Sitting in a room alone with no lights, listening to these 5 parts of music was the most scariest experience with a piece of music I every had.
If you dont know what the story, behind this track is about, watch this old movie.

Alan Parsons Project have made lots of instrumental classics, like I Robot and Mammagamma, but this music was part of a LP full of music influenced by Edgar Allan Poe.
There are more haunted music on it, like for example The Tell-Tale Heart
I wonder which heavy metal band dares to cover this song, NO NOT YOU Slough Feg...

So when it's Halloween, and you are in the mood for a scary story transformed into music.
Here it is...
